BIOGRAPHY

A cognitive neuroscientist by day and artist by night, Rudy has been called “a multitalented beautiful mind,” (Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC)), “the young Latin promise,” (Toronto Hispano) and “a rising star” (U of T Magazine). Rudy has been involved in creative development, directing short-films and scoring music since childhood. In 2011, he received the Artistic Achievement Award from the University of Toronto. Later, Rudy was part of their selection for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Student’s Showcase for his work Life Is A Symphony a short film about a young street musician in Mexico that becomes an illegal immigrant in the U.S. attempting to be a concerto pianist.  Rudy was also a fan favourite in the national competition, EMI Music’s Next Superstar with his debut EP ORKESTRA that fused electronic pop music and orchestral arrangements. He had his debut concert at Hugh’s Room in summer 2012 as part of the Discoveries Series produced by Canadian music veteran Jane Harbury. This young artist is an emerging filmmaker and composer trained by schools like Sheridan Tech, the Royal Conservatory, the University of Toronto. Rudy is also a classically-trained grade 10 opera singer and a self-taught grade 10 pianist.

In summer 2013 his facebook page went viral and started receiving thousands of likes thanks to a side-b song he posted Permiso Para Aterrizar the song debuted in CBC Radio and later on La100 Radio in Argentina. Facebook noticed and awarded him the facebook.com/rudy address and was asked to be part of his successful stories program. His debut single in Spanish launched on December of that same year and on the first day it became two trending topics on twitter thanks to his fans. Unfortunately days later Rudy’s mom passed away suddenly. Rudy’s mom was a child psychologist and was owner and director of a school for children ages 0 to 6 in Mexico City. After the sudden need of a director for the school, Rudy moved from Toronto to Mexico City. His idea was to stay there until the end of the school year once he found a suitable director for the school. Months later he fell in love with the school and with the job and decided to stop music promotion and turn his efforts to establish a research foundation to honour his late mother by using his previous experience in neuroscience research at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto and his studies at University of Toronto. EDITH Foundation is currently a multidisciplinary research centre on childhood cognition and happiness. Not even a year has passed since he launched the foundation and his effort has been recognized internationally due to a program he designed. The program is based on educational neuroscience and multiple intelligences and its main goal is to give well-rounded education that can lead to incorporate happiness into education, as if it were any other type of teachable discipline such as math or literature.

His research has allowed him to meet ex-president of Mexico VIcente Fox, be a guest lecturer to the doctoral program of education at the University of Texas in Brownsville, and give international conferences in the United States. He credits this opportunities to Dr. Laura Jewett, a professor at the Department of Learning and Innovation at the University of Texas Brownsville. In April, Rudy and his foundation became a global community partner of the University of Texas at Brownsville and will collaborate in research together. One of the main projects in development is an ecosystem of apps based on his preschool research program. Tentative launching date for the debuting app READY RUDY is summer 2015.

Now that Rudy’s foundation to honour his late mother is on track for an incredible start, Rudy is working on new music and will launch his first EP in Spanish in summer 2015.
